Lecturer at Tokyo University of the Arts. He has initiated various collaborative activities through his connections with teachers at Oginohama Elementary School (a base for many of his projects) and the drawing together of various members sharing the wish to do something "for the children who will create the future".
Based on "relationships formed by toiling and spending time together with people of a community", Satoshi Iwama has undertaken to give "assistance, with the thought and creation towards a new future, for Momourachi Ward, in which dispersal of the population has occurred on a large scale". He aims to "assist with making certain that the Oginohama Elementary School continues to exist as a place of learning for the children", and to "help create a sense of excitement in the children of this school". Forming person-to-person, one- to-one relationships over five or ten years, and while engaging with the children and village members, Satoshi works diligently from behind the scenes without the benefit of personal convenience, basing his decisions on the frank question of whether his actions are genuinely useful.
